Now that your child is going to high school, help her go beyond the five-paragraph essay. Ideal for the last semester of your child's middle school career or the summer between middle and high school, this workshop prepares middle school students for the rigors of high school-level writing via guided reading, research, and writing about subjects they’re passionate about. Session topics include:
- Mastering essay and paragraph structure
- Performing online and library research
- Cultivating deeper critical thought and analysis
- Sentence combining and elevating language
- Vocabulary acquisition and use
- Integrating and citing quotations
- Active reading
- Asking teachers for help and interpreting feedback
